GRO releases uplifting power-single prior to the release of her debut album

GRO debuted in February this year and rapidly gained a lot of attention for her unique and emotional electronic pop. Now, three weeks prior to her debut album release, she releases a fourth single - an uplifting tribute to the joy of life entitled High As A Kite.

Behind GRO is musician and producer Julie Møller Christiansen. With her innovative and personal electronic pop, she has made a solid name on the Danish music scene within a very short time.

Her debut album Columna reflects the time around her mother's suicide and was written during periods of time when Julie isolated herself in her home studio with LPs and photos from her parents' youth.

The forthcoming single High As A Kite, is an uplifting song about taking responsibility for one's own happiness.

“Being close to a person with suicidal thoughts got me thinking a lot about happiness and how to equip myself and my surroundings to be able to handle life crises. For me, it has been important to acknowledge that I am my own best partner in crime, responsible for making me feel happy. Lately I started making sure to prioritize spending time in nature, hanging out with good times often etc. To me it makes sense that the chance of feeling joy and euphoria is likely bigger if I take responsibility for creating it rather than waiting for others to create it for me.”

Julie’s tribute to the joy of life is also reflected in the songs’ bubbling and confident arrangement with rich bass, playful and kitsch drums and choir elements and Julie's weightless voice and harp on top. High As A Kite and the rest of the album's 9 songs provide insight into the thoughts and feelings present when you are close to someone, who has lost the will to live. It is an album with many contrasts, but equal for all songs is a balanced interaction between the melancholic and the uplifting.
